Writing Activity-Connect 8 for Sentence Fluency

After reading a nonfiction text, students list 8 facts. Students are challenged to combine the 8 facts into 4 and then 2 sentences. This activity provides students with the opportunity to used conjunctions and phrases to turn simple sentences into compound and complex sentences.

Product Research

Product research requires that students ask questions and use the product labeling to find and formulate answers. You will need to provide empty containers from grocery items. There is a bank of questions to use or you can have students brainstorm and list questions to answer.

Number Cards for Bunco and Memory Games

Memory Game

Memory is a great matching game that helps students to practice vocabulary, phonics, math facts and so much more. These are the basic directions. You will find that once you teach the process, the content can be changed to match the student expectations being addressed.

Contraction Concentration

Play memory with your students to reinforce contractions. This game can be played in small groups or with the entire class. I use a pocket chart and place the words behind number cards so students can call the number they want to turn over.
